General Assistance
The Sioux County General Assistance Program affords limited assistance to qualified persons who are experiencing financial difficulty through no fault of their won, and have no other avenue of support through
relatives, government programs, or other public or private resources. A Sioux County applicant who is a citizen of the United States or qualified alien as defined by federal law may be eligible for assistance with the following:
- Rent
- Utilities
- Provisions including food and nonfood items
- Emergency Medical and dental services
- Funeral Expenses
Legal Services:
To the extent funding is available, payment may be made on behalf of eligible applicants for the following types of legal services rendered in Sioux County:
- Tennant/Landlord Matters
- Family Law Matters i.e. Wills & Civil Dissolutions
- Gaurdianship/Conservatorship
- Domestic Abuse Petitions
- Debtor/Creditor Matters
- Torte Defenses, if no insurance is available
Substance Abuse Services:
Clinically eligible individuals who meet Sioux County financial eligibility guidelines may be awarded a grant of upt $1500.00 to be used towards funding voluntary inpatient and/or outpatient substance abuse services provided by a county-approved treatment provider. Sioux County also provides funding for approved commitment-related substance abuse services and supports for an individual deemed eligible, subject to reimbursement to the County by the consumer.
